Time truly is a thief. I can’t believe I have a 15 month old and a 4.5 year old 🤯. Like, what?! 😩 As crazy as these years have been, I find myself yearning to do it ALL OVER AGAIN! Any other mamas feel the same? I could talk for hours about how much I adore my boys and all mommyhood things but I’ll spare you on this account 🙈
So, what I can say, is this second postpartum has been a hell of a lot easily to recover from and I did honestly NOT expect to heal as quickly as I have. While pregnant, I mentally prepped myself for my recovery taking twice as long as my 1st pregnancy considering I would have two tiny humans to love & care for while simultaneously trying to rehab a body that has been pregnant + given birth twice.
The best advice I can give to every postpartum woman, is to honor your body where it’s at. I know this is much easier said than done. I personally struggled with this big time being a first time mama. I remember not being able to get back into my heavy lifting routine quick enough 🤦🏼♀️. Your body went through an incredible amount of stress and trauma whether you felt amazing or awful during your pregnancy/birth. Your body deserves ALL the TIME it needs to heal itself. HONOR that and give it all the TLC it needs to help gently guide it back to a state of normalcy. And for the love of your core and pelvic floor, P L E A S E do NOT jump back into your normal lifting/ high intensity workout routine BEFORE rehabbing the parts of your body, your CORE UNIT AND PELVIC FLOOR, that are begging for you to reconnect to and restrengthen. Do this and you’ll have a solid foundation to regrow all the other muscle groups.
